About DER Associates

Three classifications, and the lines around them

DER Associates Ltd is registered for three activities: management consultancy activities other than financial management (SIC 70229), support activities to performing arts (SIC 90020) and other sports activities (SIC 93199). It is registered at Gosse Close in Hoddesdon.

The common thread is organisation rather than performance. In consultancy that means operating models, process and decision rights. In the arts it means the coordination, scheduling, logistics and venue work that sits behind a production - support activities, not the performance itself. In sport it means organising and running activities, not coaching technique.

Now the limits, which matter more here than in most trades. We are not an entertainment or theatrical agency and not an employment agency or employment business: we do not represent performers, we do not find or seek to find work for anybody, and we never charge a performer a fee for representation or for finding them work. If you want an agent, you want someone else.

In sport we organise activities for adults. We do not hold ourselves out as qualified coaches, we claim no national governing body affiliation or coaching qualification, and we do not run activities for children or for adults at risk. Work of that kind is regulated activity with safeguarding, enhanced disclosure and governing-body requirements attached, and it is not something to drift into because somebody asked nicely.

The consultancy is management consultancy and excludes financial management: we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and we give no financial, investment, tax, accountancy, legal or insurance advice.
